The Latest Fashion Trends For Indie Kids

Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of the greatest essayist and poet of all time. He once said, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." Pretty sure, those who fancy Indie styles are proud of Mr. Emerson. With those words of Emerson, he genuinely described what Indie is all about. To understand better, let us briefly discuss this lifestyle that many are attracted to. Indie believes what is outside the norms. They hate stereotypes. Indie is said to have originated in the early seventies and eighties when music becomes a life changing experience for everyone.

No one can really deny the impact of music to the imagery and individuality of people. Today, even kids as young as eight or nine are becoming interested in Indie fashion. This trend is all about freedom to express, comfort and style without conforming to the standards given by the common men. They do not dress to impress others, but to gratify themselves.

So, what does it take to be an Indie? Indie kids value their independence and uniqueness. They do not conform to the ideals and beliefs of the majority. They love to listen to Indie and alternative music. They hate music found in the top 20s of the music charts because those are the bands and single artists that the majority adores. They are open-minded. Having that said, they do not judge people just by looking at others appearance.

Indies are fond of adorning themselves with multiple piercings. An Indie kid on the other hand, is not yet permissible to body piercing and they ought to wait until they are of legal age of 18 before they do what they want with their body. Well, unless Mom and Dad are Indies too. But mostly, kids below 18 are not allowed to have body piercing of any sort. They have to wait until they're a little older before they can experiment with their bodies.

Since under-age kids are not yet allowed to do the things they want to do even if they have control of their bodies, some fake it with magnetic earrings. They are less invasive yet they look different. They are usually found in tattoo shops or boutique stores.

When it comes to their outfits, most Indie kids love to wear hot pants matched with a unique tee. They also like shirts either short or long sleeved. Band shirts are also fashionable for them especially those with witty statements or appealing pictures. Trousers with chords and the likes are also in for boys as well. When it comes to shoes Converse is a must have because it comes with different styles and colors. But generally, any sneakers will do. Hats are also very modish for them especially those with interesting and unique designs.

Some Indie girls on the other hand are attached to heavy makeup and accessories. Then again most parents disapprove on this because they think that too much make up can be bad for the skin and it can make one look cheap. Their philosophy is that they look atypical when they are wearing heavy makeup and big accessories. At times they wear their hair as if it has life of its own. They don't care to brush. They don't even care if they are called names by people around them.

If you know an Indie kid somewhere, do not judge. Who knows? That kid may be a band leader someday. So don't call them misfits or outcasts because they fit perfectly in this world and they are entitled to have their own views and ideals. They just don't want to be conformed in this world and be called as average because they are not. Instead, love them and care them, although they are different, they are still humans.
